Craft Beer Tasting

 

A collaborative showcase by leading artists, creators and entrepreneurs of Japan, for an immersive experience in contemporary Japanese music and culture.

 

Featuring:

Craft Beer Tasting and Japanese Snacks 
Enjoy complimentary craft beer tasting and meet CEO Shigeharu Asagiri of pioneering Japanese craft brewery COEDO Brewery. Japanese snacks and food by Milk Cloud Bakery, Yatai Japanese, and Bernal Cutlery available for purchase.

Art
A multimedia collaboration between Dice Tsutsumi, animator and founder of Emmy Award winning studio Tonko House, and the Nippon Kobo Ensemble’s performance of luminary composer Toru Takemitsu’s Seasons. An art installation by Bay Area visual artist, Asaki Oda.

Chamber Music 
A contemporary music concert program, featuring master compositions by iconic composers of Japan such as Toru Takemitsu, Joe Hisaishi and Eiko Orita. The highlight of the program includes a premiere performance of emerging Bay Area composer Erika Oba’s newest work,Turning Leaves, Falling Ash. The Nippon Kobo ensemble presents the Bay Area’s top musicians including Kyle Bruckmann on oboe, Jeff Anderle on bass clarinet, Leslie Tagorda on clarinet, Jamael Smith on bassoon, and Divesh Karamchandani and Haruka Fujii on percussion.

Conversations with leading professionals representing contemporary Japanese culture, including Shigeharu Asagiri of COEDO Brewery, Dice Tsutsumi of Tonko House, and Nippon Kobo’s founder Haruka Fujii.
